Korea has reaffirmed its decision to deploy 3,000 more troops to Iraq in August, joining 600 soldiers already there, despite Tuesday's beheading of South Korean hostage Kim Sun-il.

However, a foreign ministry spokesman said Seoul has ordered the evacuation of all its nationals in Iraq, except for essential personnel.

The spokesman said South Korea strongly condemns the killing of Mr. Kim as "an act of anti-humanitarian terror.

In Washington, President Bush also condemned the execution of Mr. Kim as a "barbaric" act and said the free world would not be intimidated by it.

Speaking at the White House with Hungary's visiting prime minister (Peter Medgyessy) beside him, Mr. Bush said the terrorists are, in his words, "trying to shake our confidence and get us to withdraw and let their dark vision take over."
