FTC investigates Microsoft Corp.¡¯ Sales Tactics
MS Korean Office in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu
Korea¡¯s Fair Trade Commission raided Microsoft Corps¡¯ Korean branch in regards to the company¡¯s sales tactic of bundling its MS Messenger with Window XP package.

The Fair Trade Commission said Thursday afternoon that it sent its investigators to the Korean subsidiary of Microsoft Corps in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The investigation will last until June 16.

All eyes are on the investigation because it is being conducted when the European Union (EU) and Japan are also taking strong measures against the U.S software company on charges of unfair trade.

The EU fined Microsoft Corps 497 million euro in March, stating that the company violated anti-trust laws by abusing its monopoly with its Windows operating system to bundle its other programs.

Japan¡¯s Fair Trade Commission is also conducting a strong investigation into Microsoft on charges of disturbing fair competition.
