'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring' Gaining Popularity in the U.S.

The movie ¡°Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring¡± has earned US$1.1 million in the U.S., a record among Korean films that have been released in that country.

The movie, by director Kim Ki-duk, was released in eight cinemas in New York and Los Angeles on April 2 and was playing at 57 cinemas across the U.S. as of late May.

Sony Pictures Classic, the distributor for the film, said that the earnings of the movie in the U.S. market have surpassed one million dollars, thus it paid $50,000 in bonuses, in addition to the contracted royalties of $75,000. ¡°Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring¡± is the first Korean film that has gained additional earnings in the U.S.

The film has gotten an average of 8.1 points in the viewers¡¯ rating of IMDB, an Internet based movie site. It took 28th place in the weekend box office at the end of last month and has continuously drawn the attention of U.S viewers.
