SUWON -- The cybercrimes division of the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Department booked a 32-year-old Mr. Lee of Gil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul for uploading a vast amount of obscene videos onto Internet file sharing services. The unemployed Lee had uploaded a grand total of 1.5 terabytes (1TB=1,024GB) of obscene video footage. Police said that if you consider that a two-hour digital movie is 1.4GB, it would take you 89 days to watch all the material if you played 12 2-hour videos a day.
According to police investigations, Lee -- who was a member of four file-sharing services -- received W1 for every 3MB of his obscene material downloaded by Internet users; he is suspected of receiving up to W3.7 million in gift certificates and computer peripherals from the file-sharing businesses. Lee said he did what he did because he found it fun to get little thank you notes from Internet users who downloaded his material.
