Supreme Court Rules Conscientious Objectors Guilty of Breaking Law
The Military Manpower Administration made an official announcement saying that although the court acquitted three "conscientious objectors" who refused to serve their military service, there is no change in its position that does not acknowledge the right of refusal to serve in the military.

The MMA said Friday in its public statement entitled ¡°The MMA¡¯s Position Concerning the Acquittal of Conscientious Military Service Evasion,¡± that with relations between North and South Korea being tense and insecure, the acknowledgment of a conscientious military service refusal would break down the basic order of performing ones duties to serve in the military and would threaten its national existence.

The statement added that the acknowledgment of alternative services due to religious beliefs would also cause controversy over religious privileges, and even for the sake of equality in military service, it cannot give favors in regards to military service to people who believe in certain religions.
