A government official said Tuesday that Korea has made a request to the Japanese government asking them to stop members of a Japanese extreme right wing group from leaving port in order to attempt on landing on the Dokdo Islets.

Earlier the government had been alerted that this group might try to reach Dokdo by use of a small boat.

The Korean government was informed by the Japanese government that four people from a group called ¡°Nihon Shidokai¡± would protest in the sea while sailing towards the islet claiming the Dokdo Islets are Japanese territory, said the official.

The Korean government has asked the Japanese government to keep watch over this group and to stop them from setting sail from Japan, the official said. If the extremist group enters Korean territorial waters, the official said that the government is planning to take any legal action that befits both municipal and international law.

The official said that although the ¡®Nihon Shidokai¡¯ postponed its plan to occupy the Dokdo Islets due to poor weather conditions on Tuesday, knowing the strong-mindedness of the group, the government couldn¡¯t rule out the possibility of another attempt.
