It is likely that Korea¡¯s relief goods will be airlifted to the North Korean explosion site of Ryongchon.

A South Korean Red Cross official said that during a liaison meeting between the two Koreas held Thursday, the North Korean Red Cross responded positively to a suggestion that the South Korean Red Cross be allowed to send the second batch of relief goods aboard a non-stop cargo plane, owned by Korean Air, from Inchon to Pyongyang on Friday.

The Red Cross official said that if the North gives a definite answer, the humanitarian organization would send the daily necessities to Pyongyang aboard Korean Air¡¯s cargo plane, which has the capacity to carry up to 70 tons. The relief supplies were donated from Gangnam-gu government and the Korean Disaster Rescue Commission. The supplies have been stored in a warehouse owned by Daehan Logistics in Ilsan.
Trucks loaded with relief goods from around the world including Korea pass through Dandong customs before entering North Korea on Thursday.

The government decided at a policy coordination meeting, presided by Acting President Goh Kun, that they would send all 13 reconstruction items and equipment requested by the North as soon as they are secured starting early May. The government has appropriated W30 billion (W23.4 billion in materials and equipment cost plus transportation fees) for this aid. The government also decided to dispatch officials from the Shenyang Consulate to Dandong to operate a taskforce supporting the transportation of relief goods.

The "Hankwangho," which departed for North Korea on Wednesday, arrived at the North Korean port city of Nampo Thursday afternoon. The relief goods will be delivered to the victims of the blast Friday.
