Following its strong debut in Germany this month, director Kim Ki-duk¡¯s "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring" is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters April 2.
Sony Pictures Classic bought the production's distribution rights for North America and according to the distributor the film will open in New York and Los Angeles next Friday, followed by San Francisco and Washington April 20 and May 7, respectively. Though Korean films have been shown in U.S. theaters before, ¡°Spring¡± is the first to be distributed and screened nationwide.

Kim Ki-duk, who was named best director at this year's Berlin Film Festival for his film titled ¡°Samaria,¡± portrays the development of a young monk as he seeks enlightenment. It was released in Korea on February 19.
¡°Spring¡± made a strong debut at German box offices, with more than 27,000 moviegoers seeing it in just the first five days. It also made history by being the first-ever Korean film to be commercially screened in Germany.
