South Korea and Japan reintroduced flight services between their two older airports late last year - Seoul's Gimpo and Tokyo's Haneda.
The Gimpo-Haneda route has recently been sold out almost daily as air passengers take advantage of drastically reduced travel times between the two cities.
Direct flights between Seoul's Gimpo and Tokyo's Haneda airports are in heated demand.
The Korea Airports Corporation said Monday that the boarding rate has reached the 90-percent level since shuttle services went into effect last November as a result of the leaders' summit agreement in June 2003.
The Gimpo-Haneda route is aimed at boosting tourism and overall exchanges between the two nations.
Just months into service, many travelers say they like the new route because it reduces travel time by an average of three hours as opposed to flying through Incheon and Narita, which are far from the inner city.
It only takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach downtown Seoul from Gimpo and the same goes for Haneda.
Currently, two of Korea's national carriers and two Japanese airlines fly daily between Gimpo and Haneda.
