A spokesman of North Korea¡¯s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday in an interview with Korea Central News Agency that ¡°If the U.S. hasn't the intention to change its hostile policy towards us, the six-nation talks will not contribute in any sort of way to solve the nuclear issue.¡±
The spokesman said, ¡°the U.S. was a obstacle in the six-nation talks by proposing we give up our nuclear weapons first, and raising issues like conventional weapons, biochemical weapons, and human rights issue,¡± and, ¡°the U.S. seems to be stalling for time for political purposes, but that doesn't present any problems to us. In the mean time, we will take necessary measures more quickly.¡±
However, the spokesman did not specifically mention what those "necessary measure" were.
He said, ¡°we agreed on the time of the next six-nation talks and organizing the working group for the peaceful solution of the nuclear issue,¡± but ¡°it's hard to expect that the issue will be resolved by continuing the talks and the prospects for a resolution wholly depends on a change in attitude of the U.S. side."
