Cholera Warning Issued For Thailand, SE Asia
The Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced Wednesday that anyone traveling to Thailand and Southeast Asia where cholera is prevalent must take care of one's hygiene.

Nine cases of cholera have been discovered in Thailand, and the cases were caused by eating uncooked food and drinking water that has not been boiled, the center announced. If any traveler returns home with suspicious symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting, the center requested that the individual immediately report to the nearest quarantine station or public health center.

Cholera is a contagious disease that is accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting, occurring two to three days after eating and drinking contaminated food and water. In serious cases, appropriate medical treatment would reduce the death rate to below 1 percent, yet if left unattended, the death rate rises to above 50 percent.
