Japanese Officials Arrive in N Korea for Talks
Top diplomats from Tokyo arrived in Pyeongyang Wednesday evening for talks on various matters of bilateral concern including the abduction of Japanese nationals.

The five-member delegation including Japan's Deputy Foreign Minister Hitoshi Tanaka is expected to urge the Kim Jong-il administration to deal with the issue of the Japanese individuals who were kidnapped by North Korean agents back in the 1970s and 1980s by allowing them to return home.

During the four-day visit, the Japanese officials are expected to firmly deliver Tokyo's stance that the resolution of the kidnapping issue is a precondition before Japan can normalize its ties with North Korea.
