For the first time, Japanese dramas will be shown on Korean television, on Monday.

The ground-breaking miniseries, "First Love," stars the young Japanese star Kyoko Fukada and veteran actor Watabe Atsurou. First Love will air Monday to Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

The 11-part series, which was broadcast by Japan's TBS in 2002, tells the story of a teacher and student who fall in love. They hide those feelings, however, and part ways, only to be reunited five years later.

Kyoko Fukada is already familiar to Korean audiences for her role in the joint Japanese-Korean drama "Friends," in which she stared alongside Won Bin. OCN plans to rebroadcast the 11 a.m. showings on the same day at 7:50 p.m.
Yamato Nadeshiko

The second drama is "Yamato Nadeshiko," which will be broadcast by Korean cable provider MBC DramaNet every Monday and Tuesday at 11 p.m. The 11-part series is about a hard-edged woman who values nothing except money, yet after a period of ups and downs discovers true love. It stars an enthusiastic Matsushima Nanako, known for her performances in the movies "Ring" and "Ring 2."Both dramas are for viewers 12 years old and over.

Also of note, SM Entertainment, the producer for Korean stars like Kangta, Mun Hui-jun, and Boa, is planning to run an official Internet J-pop streaming service. SM, which signed a contract with Japanese music producing giant Avex, will be providing Internet users with nearly 20,000 Japanese pop songs over its website (www.ilikepop.com).
