Recent data compiled by Seoul's Construction and Transportation Ministry on Thursday indicate a plunge in revenue from the country's total overseas construction orders this year.
Korean builders managed to secure some US$3.2 billion worth of contracts during the first 11 months of 2003, down more than 41 percent year-on-year.
Analysts are linking the lackluster performance to market doldrums in the global arena.
Keeping in mind that domestic firms are expected to sign additional deals worth US$900 million dollars in December, the total amount of orders received this year is forecast to top out at the US$4 billion range, the lowest in ten years.
