N. Korea Demands U.S. Compensate for KEDO Project Halt
North Korea is urging the United States to compensate for the financial losses caused by the suspension of light-water nuclear reactors in the communist state.

The decision to temporarily freeze reactor construction was reached early this month by members of the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization or KEDO to see what comes of diplomatic attempts to persuade Pyeongyang to abandon nuclear weapons programs.

The communist North this Wednesday called on the United States to take responsibility for the suspended reactor project since the U.S. signed the Agreed Framework back in 1994.

A North Korean Foreign Ministry official warned Pyeongyang will not let any of the construction equipment or technological data to be taken out of the country unless the U.S. can find a way to compensate their losses. Arirang TV
