Japanese fans of Korean leading man Bae Yong-joon are more than star-stuck. They're organized, and they're coming to Korea.
The first group is due on Nov. 30. Staying at the Sheraton WalkerHill Hotel in Seoul, where Bae¡¯s TV drama titled "Hotelier" was filmed, the fans plan to take a trip to Yongpyong, where Bae made his other hit TV drama, "Winter Sonata," and watch his latest film, "Scandal."
About 500 fans applied for the first group, the event manager, IMX, said. The company added, however, that it would consider expanding the group to include 1,000 people, as calls about the program keep coming.
In a joint venture with the film company that produced "Scandal," Bom, IMX plans to conduct four "Bae Yong-joon tours" in December. Under the program, about 3,200 Japanese tourists will be invited to Korea, visit places where the actor has been filmed, and watch his movies.
Meanwhile, Bae Yong-joon recently signed an exclusive two-year management contract with the Hanshin Corporation, an animation studio, as part of the studio's plans to widen its business scope into various entertainment genres, including movies.
