Anti-Dumping Duties to be Extended
The Korea Trade Commission (KTC) said Sunday that it has decided to recommend that the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) extend the country's current anti-dumping duties currently levied on alkaline-manganese batteries imported from Singapore, China and Japan, polyvinyl alcohol imported from Japan, and ferrosilicon manganese imported from China.

The current anti-dumping duty rates on alkaline-manganese batteries are 8.76 percent on imports from Singapore, 24.97 percent on those from Japan and China, and 17.6 percent on polyvinyl imports from Japan. All of these duties are expected to be extended for another three years.

The KTC said that the anti-dumping rate on Chinese ferrosilicon manganese is 15.66 percent, and the rate would be extended for another five years.

The commission said its industry survey showed that the imported products are likely to cause serious damage to Korean firms over the next few years. (Park Young-chul, ycpark@chosun.com )
