Pak Edges Compatriot for LPGA Win
Pak Seri took the winner's cup at last weekend's Ladies Pro Golf Association tournament in Toledo, Ohio, her third title of the season.

She closed the final round of the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic at the Highland Meadows Countryclub with an even-par 71, bringing her total to a 13-under 271, and a two-shot margin of victory over the runner-ups Han Hee-won and the Colombian Marisa Baena.

Resuming the match that had been suspended due to bad weather the day before, Pak, 25, began Sunday with a one-stroke lead over Han, who had just won the Wendy's Championship for Children last weekend.

Pak managed to lead the duel with Han until the 15th, then the two stood even after Pak double-bogeyed on the 16th.

Then Pak fired a birdie on the next hole and an even par on the last.

By winning the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic this year, Pak became the first golfer to win the same LPGA tournament four times. She won it before in 1998, 1999 and 2001.

Sunday's win also boosted her yearly winnings to $1.1 million; the figure is second on the tour to Sweden's Annika Sorenstam.

Pak's fellow Korean golfers also performed well. Han Hee-won tied for second place with an 11-under par 273, and Kim Mi-hyun came right behind in another two-way tie for fourth, with a 10-under 274. (Arirang TV)
