GNP to Demand Election Recount
The head of the Grand National Party Anti-Election Corruption Committee, Ahn Sang-soo announced Tuesday the party was going to file a lawsuit with the Supreme Court to order a recount of the votes in the presidential election, due to rumors of irregularities. Ahn said there had been comments that computers had been manipulated during the counting procedure and he had asked the court to order votes to be preserved as evidence.

The GNP said in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, 10 votes for GNP candidate Lee Hoi-chang were found among those cast for President-elect Roh Moo-hyun. It added there were similar cases in Ilsan and Goyang.

However, Spokesman Nam Kyung-pil said the action was to discover the truth behind the rumors, and was not targeted at Roh. He continued the party would not hinder Roh's move in forming a government. (Yoon Jeong-mo, jhyoon@chosun.com )
