The National Election Commission confirmed on Friday some 35 million Koreans will be eligible to vote in the country's 16th Presidential Election. The figure includes 867,000 absentee voters and accounts for 72.6 percent of the total national population as of November 21.
Compared to the previous presidential vote in 1997 around 270,000 people, or 8.4 percent more have voting rights. By age group, those in their thirties take up the largest proportion accounting for about a quarter of the total constituency, with 22 percent of the total votes coming from Seoul.
