Major Presidential Hopefuls Hit Campaign Trail on D-7

Thursday marks D-7 for the December 19 presidential election and Grand National Party candidate Lee Hoi-chang held a press conference before hitting the campaign trail. Lee once again denounced a campaign pledge by his main opponent, Roh Moo-hyun of the Millennium Democratic Party, to move the country's "administrative capital" from Seoul to Chungcheong Province saying the idea would result in an economic slump.

Lee is now touring the Gyeongyang Provinces set to make his third visit to Busan since official campaigning kicked off late last month. Roh, in the meantime is wooing voters in Chungcheong and Gangwon Provinces, while the Democratic Labor Party's Kwon Young-ghill is visiting southeastern cities including Gumi and Daegu.
