Presidential Candidates Continue on Campaign Trail

Following Friday's back-to-back stumping rallies in the country's southwestern regions, including Jeonam Province and Jeju Island the Grand National Party's presidential candidate Lee Hoi-chang began Saturday's vote chase in Daegu. Appealing to voters with locally catered policies, Lee visited a local marketplace seeking to consolidate his traditional stronghold. In a speech, he pledged to make his utmost efforts to open an era of national unity and reconciliation by rooting out regional antagonism.

The GNP's presidential hopeful in the afternoon plans to continue his campaign trail in the capital where Lee is reportedly considering taking part in a silent protest in downtown Seoul, over the deaths of two high school girls, who were hit by a US armored vehicle back in June.

Roh Moo-hyun of the Millennium Democratic Party in the meantime is planning to focus on the nation's southeastern regions. Wrapping up a two-day visit to his hometown Busan on Friday, Roh pledged to realize true political reform and national unity, saying he will soon launch a joint nationwide campaign trail with the National Alliance Party 21's Chung Mong-joon.

Seeking to further expand the so-called "Roh Wind," the MDP's presidential candidate began Saturday's campaigning in Milyang and Gimhae, while in the afternoon he is scheduled to hold rallies in Daegu.
