With the nation's 16th presidential election just 13 days away the two leading contenders are on their second day of regional campaign tours. Lee Hoi-chang of the Grand National Party made his first visit to the Jeolla Provinces on Friday since official campaigning kicked off last week. He toured Iksan and Gwangju in hopes of wooing voters who have yet to make up their minds. Later in the afternoon, the GNP candidate will fly down to the southwestern resort island of Jeju for a relay-stumping rally before moving onto Daegu in the country's southeast.
Meanwhile, the Millennium Democratic Party's Roh Moo-hyun spent this day in Korea's number second biggest city, Busan. Visiting bus terminals and markets there, Roh was telling voters his way of thanking supporters in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province is by becoming the kind of leader who can help Koreans overcome regionalism and partisanship.
