The Millennium Democratic Party refused demands from the National Alliance 21, Tuesday, with regard to renegotiating the polling method by which a single presidential candidate will be chosen from the two parties. It said to do so would fundamentally betray the agreement made between the parties regarding candidate selection.
MDP Spokesman Lee Nak-hyun said NA21's attitude with regard to demanding a change of the MDP negotiating team was regrettable, and would not be accepted, but that the party was still open for talks. Lee added that the action by NA21 seemed to mean they wanted to scrap the agreement, and it was wrong for the party to blame the MDP for leaking the polling method.
NA21 Spokeswoman Kim Haeng replied the MDP needed to express clearly whether it was going to scrap its plan for a single candidate, and the secret agreement, and demanded the party's negotiation team led by Lee Hae-chan be replaced. Kim continued until this happened there would be no more talks.
