The nine-day Busan Choir Olympics ended Sunday following tight competition among 6,400 contestants from 36 countries. The organizing committee announced that more than 100,000 visitors attended the event and took part in additional attractions. Of the 18 championship spots China outperformed all winning five, followed by Hungary with four and Japan's two. Korea, the Philippines, Sweden, Taiwan, US, Germany and Indonesia achieved one championship each.
Medal wise, China again topped winning 16 gold, 17 silver and five bronze, followed by Korea, which scored the highest medal tally of 55, with seven, 31 and 17, respectively; and Hungary with six gold and two silver.
The only championship team from Korea was the Pilgrim Mission Choir in the segment of religious music without accompaniment.
