Perugia Claim Rights for Ahn Jung-hwan
Italian club Perugia, which had leased World Cup semifinal star Ahn Jeong-hwan from Busan Icons has apparently sent official notices to several clubs in England's Premier League claiming he is still on their players' roster. It was confirmed, Thursday, that Perugia's president sent letters on June 26th saying all negotiations relating to the transfer of Ahn were entrusted to management company Octagon, according to Ahn Jong-bok of Ahn's personal management company, E-player.

E-player and the Icons said Perugia was trying to prevent Ahn¡¯s transfer, as it had lost his leasing rights; the contract for Ahn ended in June and they say Perugia did not remit the renewal leasing fee of US$1.6 million as written in the contract, adding as such the player reverts to his original team. Concerning this, Perugia said it expressed its intention to transfer Ahn before the rental term was over.

E-player noted some of the English clubs that showed interest in Ahn are confused because of Perugia¡¯s official notification, and is planning to settle the matter with the Italian team as soon as possible after confirmation of procedures with FIFA. Ahn visited Busan's Gudeok Field for a K League match on July 10 and while greeting fans, said he would immediately go to the Netherland's PSV Einhoven if ex national coach Guus Hiddink called him.
