'Be the Reds' Creator Seeks Copyrights
People from all walks of life were on the streets cheering for the national team and wearing red tee shirts shouting 'Be the Reds' during the 2002 World Cup finals, stunning the outside world. Designer Park Young-cheol created the slogan and is now reaping the benefits. He is now being overwhelmed by inquiries with a variety of apparel, fancy stationary, and beverage companies asking for a contract to use the intellectual property rights of the slogan.

"It was in my dreams," Park said of the phrase adding he did not think the design would become so famous at the time when the Red Devils agency requested him to create it in April. Running a small planning and publishing company in Daejeon, 'Neonia', Park made every possible effort in the belief that it would be the most important thing in his life.

Using a hand made writing brush made of 2002 roe deer's hairs, he drew the dynamic slogan for just a W2 million payment, which is why Neonia have decided to recover the copyright on advice from a lawyer. With the recently approved Intellectual Property Law for artistic work, Park is taking proper measures to get his rights back.
