FIFA has rewarded the Korean national soccer team for its incredible performance at this year's World Cup. In its new rankings unveiled Tuesday, the international football body ranked Korea 22nd , almost 20 spots better than its May 2 ranking of 40th.
As well, Japan, which made it to the Round of 16 this year, jumped to the 24th spot from 32nd, just behind Korea.
Meanwhile, North Korea, even though it did not make it to this year's World Cup, saw their ranking inch up by one, from 126th to 125th, by virtue of the poor performances of other teams.
Brazil, this year's World Cup winner, regained the No. 1 position after yielding to France, the 98 winners, earlier in the year.
