Koreans Opting for Netherlands and Turkey for Holidays
Influenced by the 2002 World Cup, South Korean's favorite sites for overseas trips have been changing with the Netherlands, the homeland of head coach Guus Hiddink, and Turkey emerging as the favorite places, while Italy, who were though of as poor losers, being less popular. According to KAL Tuesday, flight reservations to Amsterdam the Dutch capital increased to a 95% boarding rate during July and August from 62% last year.

Airlines and travel agencies have been releasing Hiddink-themed tours, featuring his house, favorite beer bar and the PSV Eindhoven soccer club.

When it comes to Turkey, according to Asiana, flight reservation to Istanbul increased to the 70% level for summer vacation from 60% over the same period last year.

KAL flight reservations to Rome, however, have fallen by 5% compared with previous years during the July 15 to August 15 holiday season, despite being the highest demand period.
