North Broadcasts South Korea's Match Against Spain
North Korea's state-run Central Broadcasting Station aired an edited one-hour version of South Korea's quarterfinal match against Spain held in Gwangju on June 22, Thursday. The match is the second game played by the South Korean squad to be broadcast in the North, after the play off against Italy.

NKCBS's commentators said that Team Korea had pulled off the best performance in its six World Cup appearances, and their spirits were higher than ever because they overachieved the original goal to proceed to the second round. The commentator also introduced South Korean goalkeeper Lee Woon-jae as an experienced player who blocked many goals in risky situations.

The Choson Sinbo, the organ of Chosen Soren, the largest association of pro-North Korean residents in Japan, reported on its Thursday Internet edition that including North Korea in 1966, Koreans are the only Asian team to advance to the quarterfinal rounds, and promised their full support for Team Korea in the third-place match against Turkey.
