Brazil Joins Germany in Finals
And then there were two. Brazil beat Turkey 1-0 on Wednesday in Saitama, Japan to join Germany in the finals of the 2002 World Cup. Turkey will now face Korea and their Red Devils fans for 3rd place.

While they played strong and had some excellent scoring chances, Turkey had trouble containing Brazil's skill and speed all night, and this eventually caught up with them in the second half, when Ronaldo scored on a beauty at the 49-minute mark. After splitting Turkey's defense, Ronaldo showed why he's one of the best players in the world when he shot a perfectly-placed ball in the bottom right corner of the goal, just past the outstretched arm of goalkeeper Rustu Recber.

Even though they were up 1-0, Brazil refused to sit back and let the Turks come to them, especially Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos, who created a number of good scoring chances in the second half. With star player Ronaldinho eligible to play for Brazil in the finals after being suspended for one game, Germany's big, stalwart defense will have their hands full against Brazil's offense.

The finals will be played in Yokohama, Japan this Sunday, and the consolation match in Daegu this Saturday.
