Korea's soccer team will play against powerful Germany in a historical semifinal match on June 25 in Sangam Stadium, Seoul at 8:30pm; first in Group D, Korea beat Italy and then Spain in the quarterfinals to gain its berth. The team had its final training session in World Cup Stadium on Monday afternoon to prepare against Germany, as the physical strength of the team has plummeted from the desperate struggle in the two previous games.
Strength supplementary measures such as recovery training and dietetic treatments have been undertaken by the team and coach Guus Hiddink said determinedly, "Korea still wishes to win. The players are struggling from wounds and fatigue, but alternate players will do their full share."
Germany also had its final training at Sangam Stadium. With a record of three wins in the World Cup already, Germany is one of the twin peaks of world soccer along with Brazil. In 1994, Korea played against Germany in the US World Cup, first allowing 3 goals, then scoring 2. German coach Rudi Voller says, "Korea's playing is at an admirable level," but added "We've prepared thoroughly and have confidence to win."
The other semifinals between Brazil and Turkey take place on June 26 and the final will take place in Yokohamam, Japan.
