KAL announced Monday it would carry 300 Red Devils fans to Yokohama for free if South Korea beats Germany June 25 to advance to the final. The national carrier is planning to place a World Cup PR B747-400 painted with a soccer scene at the Red Devils' disposal and allow its committee to select 300 members. The plane will depart June 30 from Incheon international airport to Haneda, or Narita airport in Tokyo adjacent to the stadium in Yokohama.
KAL's executive director Kim Ho-taek said the event was designed to support the South Korean team by dispatching the "12th player," the Red Devils to the final. KAL president Cho Yang-ho is expected to be on the plane.
Asiana said it would provide a free personal flight for the national team if they beat Germany, the type of which will be decided after discussions with the Korea Football Association. Asiana has supported the national soccer team as an official sponsor since 1999.
