Domestic Tickets for Third Place Sold Out

The Korea World Cup Organizing Committee's local operations headquartered in Daegu announced, Thursday, that third place tickets for domestic sales sold out early in the morning. It said sales had been brisk since June 18 when the Korea earned a quarterfinal place, adding that it would hold additional sales as soon as it confirms leftover overseas tickets from Byrom.

Third place tickets had not been popular and KOWOC worried about vacancies, however, the situation reversed with the Korean team advancing and sales went from 100 to 3,000 a day.

If Team Korea qualifies for the semifinals by edging Spain on Saturday, the team will be staging a match either in Yokohama, Japan where the finals will be held or Daegu World Cup stadium in South Korea where third place will be held. Domestic fans, believing in South Korea advancing into the semifinals began purchasing the tickets for third place as they were unable to buy the ticket for finals to be held in Japan.

An official at the local operation said, the office was overwhelmed by inquires on the phone, adding that it has yet established a plan with Byrom to sell an estimated 8,000 overseas tickets leftover. Ticket prices for the match are is W288,000 for first class, W224,000 for second class and W124,000 for third class.
