Black Market World Cup Ticket Prices Soaring
The 50,000 tickets for the game between Korea and Italy on Tuesday have all sold out while those for the quarterfinals and semifinals are selling like hot cakes. According to Interpark, a domestic ticket agency of the Korea World Cup Organizing Committee, the tickets for the game at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium on June 22 were already sold out last June 15 as that is where Korea will play against Spain if Korea beats Italy.

However, more than 100 messages on soccer-related web boards of portal sites are posted daily from people looking for quarterfinal tickets and it has already been some time since scalper's tickets on the Internet rose to W1 million. Currently, they are selling tickets for the quarterfinals are four to five times the normal price and third-class seats at W160,000 are selling for W600,000 to W700,000.

The third-class seats for the semifinal that will take place in Seoul on June 25 are already sold out and second and first class seats are selling fast. If Korea beats Italy, black market tickets are expected to go over W2 million.

A KOWOC official said currently, domestic tickets received from FIFA were sold out, but when countries for the quarterfinals are decided, unsold tickets from each country will come to Korea and so there will still be a way to buy tickets through normal procedures.
