World Cup fever is heating up as the 32 finalists give it their best to survive the first knockout stage of the tournament, and behind all the excitement are thousands of journalists from the world-over delivering the moment of joy and sorrow to their home fans.
The IMC located at the COEX center in southern Seoul is the brain of all media for the global soccer event, along with its counterpart in Yokohama Japan. Boasting state-of-the-art facilities, Seoul's media hub is 36,000 square meters wide catering to over 6,000 members of the press. In the process of establishing the facility, the first priority went to providing journalists the best working environment in terms of space and also circulation.
The media center is divided into two sections; the International Broadcasting Center and the Main Press Center. The IBC collects all video and audio signals sent from the 20 venues, and relays them to billions of global viewers, after correcting technical disorders, while the Main Press Center is the home ground for print media personnel.
With the latest telecommunications equipment including the INFO 2002 terminals, journalists can get access to all detailed World Cup information ranging from match results to official FIFA press releases.
The International Media Center runs at full speed 24 hours a day as global journalists work around-the-clock to bring home the excitement on and off the turf.
