With the World Cup festivities sweeping the nation, sales of digital TV sets, which offer high-definition visuals, have spiraled up.
According to an electronics manufacturers' association Saturday, a total of 75,000 digital TV sets have been sold in the country in May, a swooping 60 percent hike from the preceding month.
The association noted that the digital sets have continued to surge since early this year from 39,999 units in January, to 43,300 units in February, and to 57,300 units in March.
The association also said that the total number of supplied digital sets are estimated at 769,000 in the country, and are projected to reach over one million sets before the end of this year.
