FIFA to Investigate Ticket Incident
Commenting on certain ticket problems that occurred at the beginning of the 2002 FIFA World Cup games, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter said in a statement on the Internet (www.fifa.com) that FIFA was not happy with the situation and also regretted these difficulties.

"All parties involved have worked hard to solve the problem," Blatter added, "and we can say that the situation is under control at the present time. We now look positively forward to the rest of the World Cup," Blatter said.

Blatter's statement followed a meeting held in Sapporo, Japan before the match between Argentina and England on June 7, which was attended by FIFA Senior Vice-President Julio Grondona, Executive Committee member and Chairman of the Ticketing Sub-Committee David Will, FIFA General Secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen and the World Cup Coordination Director Peter Velappan.

During the meeting, Will said the international governing organization would investigate why some seats were empty even though they had been sold. (Kim Su-hae, goodluck@chosun.com )
