The National Intelligence Service confirmed Saturday that North Korea has aired edited versions of 12 2002 World Cup soccer matches on its Central Broadcasting Station since June 1 at around 10pm every night. It added, however that it did not broadcast games with co-hosts South Korea and Japan, or the United States.
The station has been reportedly airing either the first or second halves of each match without revealing details of the host stadium or country. It has so far broadcast the French opener against Senegal on June 1; Cameroon versus Ireland on the 2nd; Uruguay vs. Denmark on the 3rd; Paraguay vs. South Africa and Argentina vs. Nigeria on the 4th; Spain vs. Slovenia and Sweden vs. England on the 5th; Brazil vs. Turkey and Germany vs. Saudi on the 6th; and Italy vs. Equador, Croatia vs. Mexico, Costa Rica vs. China, and Ireland vs. Germany on the 7th.
