Welcoming the 2002 Korea Japan World Cup, the exhibition 'Seeing the World Cup Through Art' will open at the Chosun Ilbo gallery in Jeongdong, Seoul on June 3, 4:00pm. Featuring artwork based on the theme of soccer, 70 artists from 19 countries including Cesar, Armand, Niki de Saint-Phalle, and Paik Nam-jun will show how they were inspired by soccer.
100 people from culture and arts circles will participate in the opening ceremony including National Museum of Korea Director Ji Gun-gil; chairman of the Korean Museum Association, Kim Jong-gyu; painters, Kim Seo-bong and Choi Gyung-han; poet Lee, Heung-woo; Sun Gallery representative, Kim Chang-sil; Gallery Hyundai representative, Park Myung-ja; and Chosun Ilbo vice president Ahn Byoung-hun. Participating artists such as Kim Chang-ryul, Hwang Young-sung, Lee Gang-so, Jeon Su-cheon, Shin Sung-hee, Kim Byoung-jong, Noh Sang-gyun, Kim Jihae, and French artist Vekovja will also be present. The exhibition is sponsored by Chosun Ilbo and Gallery Hyundai and will continue until June 16.
