There's more to the World Cup games than just soccer with the international gala also emphasizing cultural exchange among members of the global community, as can be seen in the nation's capital where the Yongsan World Cup Culture Festival is in full swing. The event, running daily until June 13, features folk performances by groups representing eleven different countries including Slovenia, Senegal, and Turkey.
Meanwhile, in downtown Seoul, the sounds of percussions and drums are echoing the streets with the 2002 Seoul Drum Festival presented until June 5. Musical troupes from Costa Rica, China, South Africa and co-host Japan, among others, set a festive rhythm to the World Cup tournament. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the dynamic concerts free-of-charge.
