Final Training Sessions for Team Korea Underway

The national soccer team is winding down its training in the final stretch to the World Cup with the squad's starting members holding a light warm up session and watching the reserves play a match against the nation's youth team on Monday. The main emphasis has been to steer clear of injuries but stay in top-condition for the first match against Poland next Tuesday.

"The finals are what is important, the players want to keep their top physical condition, and the program was made to keep it that way," said coach Guus Hiddink.

Following the friendly against France two players Hong Myung-bo and Kim Nam-il were injured, but according to team doctors their injuries are not serious and they plan to start in the first game. Observers are saying the team's 11 starting members for the Poland match will be the same members of the starting team for the friendly against Scotland.

The whole squad will remain in their base camp in Kyungju in the southern part of the peninsula until the Poland game next week. They are expected to follow a tight program to keep in peak condition, and go over strategic planning for their first match.
