The Spanish national soccer team arrived in Korea, Tuesday, to prepare for the World Cup Finals. Led by head coach Jose Antonio Camacho, Team Spain is the first team to arrive among the 15 foreign teams playing in the World Cup first round matches in the country. Along with some 100 Spanish press, the team flew into Gimhae Airport at 1:30pm by a chartered Iberia Airlines plane.
Placed in Group B with Slovenia, Paraguay, and the Republic of South Africa, the Spanish team is aiming to proceed into the last rounds for the first time since the 1950 Brazil World Cup. The team has a strong line-up, which includes Raul Gonzalez, Diego Tristan and Fernando Hierro. Spanish players and staff immediately headed to the Hyundai Sports Club House right next to Seobu Stadium, Ulsan.
Team Spain¡¯s workout plays with local teams, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and Ulsan Hyundai, on May 23 and 25 will be broadcast live in Spain through state-run network Antenna 3. Starting with arrival of Spain, Poland and the USA, both in Group D playing against Korea, will enter on May 23 and 24 respectively, followed by France and Turkey on May 25.
