Girl Orphans Called up as World Cup 'Staff'

Three elementary school girl students from an orphan home's soccer team were picked up as ball staff by KOWOC and look forward to the opening day. National team goal keeper Kim Byeong-ji also came from the home.

The three; Jang Seo-yeong, Oh Eun-hae, and Kim Han-eol are all the same age and are in the sixth grade of elementary school, and will participate in the Korea-Portugal match on June 14 and the warm up match against France on May 26. The young girls are crazy for soccer and enthusiastic fans of the national soccer team. The fans of goalkeeper Kim; Jang and Oh say that they are a little nervous to imagine tossing the ball to him.

"I'm a little sorry to be unable to see Lee Dong-guk at the World Cup, but happy to cheer our team closer than any other else," said his fan, Kim. Playing middle wing, center forward, and sweeper for the orphanage's soccer team, Jang, Oh and Kim dream of becoming female professional soccer players. The team swept a series of victories in a variety of tournaments and recently was placed third at the National Youth Tournament which ended on May 14.
