The sizable (21,000§³) IBC on the first and third floors of the COEX will house global broadcasting stations, including ABC, the BBC, and NHK with some 3,400 permanent staff.

Participants in the opening ceremony included FIFA Media Chief Keith Cooper, Host Broadcasting Service (HBS) Chief Executive Francis Tellier, KOWOC president Chung Mong-jun, Seoul mayor Koh Gun, Minister of Culture and Tourism Namgung Jin and KBS president Park Gwon-sang.

The kick-off of the IBC will light the fuse for World Cup fever for whole of the world, said an IBC official, adding that every stadium has 20 set cameras, four-fold that of the France World Cup in 1998, which will capture more vivid and dynamic scenes than ever before.
