Deutsche Oper Berlin will perform "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Opera theatre of Seoul Arts Center on May 21, and from the 23rd to the 25th at 7:30pm at the invitation of Seoul Arts Center and the Chosun Ilbo. The opera company will bring its own stage and props from Berlin to Seoul for the event.

The Marriage of Figaro has been in the Deutsche Oper Berlin's repertoire since 1987 and it has performed the opera more than 100 times in the 24 years since. Shin Young-ok will star as Susana in the upcoming performance, which includes all the 150 strong company.

In a phone interview with Shin in Manhattan, she said, it has been 10 years since she starred in an opera in Korea, adding that the role gained good reviews in the Spoleto Festival in the US where she starred alongside Rene Fleming.
