The remaining 265,700 World Cup tickets, including unsold ones allocated for overseas sales and converted media seats, went on sale Wednesday and were sold out in just two hours according to the Korea World Cup Organizing Committee (KOWOC). The tickets included 4,630 for the opening France-Senegal match, 4,200 for the three first round games featuring the national team and 443 first class seats for the semifinal in Seoul.
From 9:30am to 11:25am, some 3.287 million people surged onto the Internet site, clogging the server for a while and creating a volley of claims by citizens at ticket selling booths. The tickets were sold on a first come first serve basis at ticket.2002worldcupkorea.org online, post offices and the Housing and Commercial Bank.
