Seoul District Prosecutor's Narcotics Division announced Friday that it had indicted four suspects for smoking marijuana, including an ex Prime Minister's son who is a CEO identified as Park, and "H" university professor identified as Kang.
The prosecutor also filed arrest warranties for six people including a real estate agent named Shin, a singer named Yu and a photographer named Lee. And arrested seven others including a former lawmaker's son identified as Lee who is a middle school teacher and vice director of a private institute "C." It seized 1kg of marijuana and 11.3kg of marijuana seeds from them.
The suspects are charged with having smoked the drug five times since November 2001.
Professor Kang is charged with inhaling marijuana wrapped in silver foil in a car parked at an apartment unit parking lot in Gangnam in late June 2001 and possessing 0.7g of marijuana.
The prosecution said the suspects were mostly rich people who studied overseas after graduation from respectful high schools and universities, adding that some of them claimed they would appeal to the court because marijuana was not a drug producing a serious moral hazard.
