Veteran Scores Two in Win Over Finland

Seasoned player Hwang Seong-hong proved that experience could win the victory in a match against Finland Thursday. Hwang, who entered the game 19 minutes into the second half for Seol Gi-hyeon, scored two consecutive goals at the 41 and 43 minute marks, winning the match for Korea.

Now an official "killer" of Team Korea, Hwang has an impressive record of scoring 49 goals in 94 matches, 0.52 per game on average, in his career. However, most of his goals were made against weak Asian teams, except for one against Germany in the 1994 World Cup in the US, and he was excluded from the national team during the 1998 World Cup in France. His record earned him the nickname "unlucky striker," and head coach Hiddink counted more on new comer Seol, who has scored seven goals in 28 matches, as the team's "killer." Hwang says the he is happy that his goals contributed to the team's spirit.

The national team has marked 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses this year, aggregating 11 wins, 6 draws and 9 loses under the leadership of Guss Hiddink.
