US to Send NBC Warfare Team for World Cup

The Ministry of National Defense announced Friday that the US military would temporarily deploy a nuclear, biological and chemical warfare team in the country during the World Cup. In addition a USAF E-2C AWACS plane based in Japan would monitor Korea during the games if necessary.

The ministry said that an agreement was made at a commanders meeting concerning the World Cup, and the two sides will mount joint security operations.

The ten divisional commands around each stadium will be augmented by special warfare troops who will be stationed outside each arena.

The ministry has invited three French anti-terrorist officers who oversaw the World Cup staged in France, for consultations and will place the military on a high state of alert from May.
